External - Taupo SAREX

Please let me know ASAP if you are interested in going along to the Taupo SAREX.  Details are below that I have been given:

 

This year, Taupo Police SAR have organised the BOP Land SAREX. Here are the details:

 

Who: BOP Police SAR Squads, LandSAR and SAR dogs are invited.

What: BOP Land SAREX, round-robin style with 90 minute stations in navigation, search methods, bushcraft, first-aid and patient/stretcher management, and missing person scenarios.

When: Saturday 03 and Sunday 04 September 2022 (arrive 0730-0830 Saturday, briefing 0845, SAREX 0930-2000, camping overnight; briefing 0600 Sunday, SAREX 0630-0830, debrief and brunch 0830-0930, depart 1000)

Where: Rangitaiki – near the southern boundary of Lochinver Station, on State Highway 5, Napier-Taupo Road; access is through the Station, opposite Rangitaiki School, and is well sign posted

Why: To exercise IMT and Field members and upskill and assess abilities with external SMEs providing training, skills assessment against the competencies and/or feedback

BYO: Meals for Saturday, search and camping gear

Provided: Transport to and from Whakatane, Tauranga, Rotorua and Taupo Police Stations to the SAREX, brunch on Sunday

  • I will request approximate numbers of LandSAR personnel by Friday 26 August for Police transport
  • Intention will be for WBOP, EBOP and ROT SAR to travel early Saturday morning, returning home Sunday lunchtime (estimated drive times: WBOP: 175km 2.15hrs; ROT: 115km 1.3hrs; EBOP: 200 km 2.5hrs); TAU travel in accordance with programme
