COMBINED TRACKING TEAM

THIS WORKSHOP IS TO REFRESH OPERATIONAL TRACKERS AND PRACTICE WORKING WITH TRACKING DOGS.

It is conducted in two parts:

1. The revision and practice of CTT techniques including lessons learnt, new techniques and field exercises by day and night. The number of Operational Trackers involved is limited by the number of Tracking Dogs and handlers attending.
2. Additional numbers of Operational Trackers will take part in a separate program again covering revision/discussion on new techniques, ideas and lessons learnt, followed by practical exercises both during the day and night.

The program is flexible to meet the needs of participants whilst providing the opportunity to revise and practise skills at all levels.

To attend this course participants need to have completed the Operational Tracking course.

Alternatively, if you are a Search Dog Handler with an operational Tracking Dog you are also eligible to participate.

SAR LEADERSHIP

The 3 day SAR team leaders course (SAR113) is designed to provide existing and aspiring team leaders and managers with skills and knowledge to help lead small teams to achieve critical tasks often in remote and hazardous terrain.

The course combines theory sessions on leadership, group process, conflict resolution and feedback with plenty of time to put it all into action in the field.

3 missings persons in the Kaimais around the North South Track area between Thompson's Track and Upland Road. Mobile Locate received from missing party cellphone. 2 teams sent in from north and south of possible location. A 3rd team sent in to have warm drinks and food for missing party ready half way back to carpark.

TRACKING IN THE WILDERNESS ENVIRONMENT

THIS IS THE SECOND OF THE TRACKING COURSES FOR SAR FIELD TEAM MEMBERS.

It develops the important skill of sign “cutting” - how to locate sign, determine its age and evaluate its relevance.  You will also learn how to apply decision pointing in the field, identifying specific places where there might be sign or clues.

TWE is a practically based course, meaning you will be outside much of the time so wear appropriate clothing and boots.

You need to come equipped for the weather – wet weather gear may be needed.

There will be one evening/night exercise that will finish between 7-8pm on Saturday evening.  

You must have attended and successfully completed Tracking Core Skills prior to attending this course.
